The Green County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a traffic fatality following a two vehicle crash on Thursday around 7:45am on Highway 104 near Albany. At the time of the crash, road conditions were wet and slush covered from ongoing snow. Deputies arrived at the scene and found a Freightliner blocking the entire roadway and a sport utility vehicle on the east side of the roadway. Deputies immediately began life saving measures on the driver of the sport utility vehicle until patient care was transferred to EMS. The driver of the Freightliner, 62 year old Robin Greenland of Westby, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken by Albany EMS to Mercy Hospital – Janesville. The driver of the sport utility vehicle, a 25 year old man from Brodhead, had life threatening injuries and was taken by Brodhead EMS to Mercy Hospital-Janesville. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced deceased. The identification of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family. This is Green County’s second traffic fatality in 2022.
