Another step has been cleared for a wind farm that’s planned for southwest Wisconsin. The state’s Public Service Commission has voted to approve the purchase of the proposed Red Barn Wind Farm – which will spread across 12-thousand acres in an area between Montfort, Livingston and Fennimore. Regulators gave the green light to the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation along with Madison Gas and Electric to spend $162-million dollars on the project. Red Barn Wind Farm will have up to 29 turbines and the capacity to produce roughly 92-megawatts of energy – enough to power about 35-thousand homes. The Grant County Board approved the wind farm plans back in 2019.
