The principal at Darlington High School, Aaron Lancaster, died Saturday after a battle with leukemia. He was 48. Lancaster was a 1990 graduate of Darlington High School where he excelled as a 4-sport athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Following high school, Lancaster attended Northern Iowa University on a football scholarship for a year and a half, before transferring to UW-Platteville to play basketball and was a member of the 1995 National Championship team. He was also an assistant coach for the 1999 National Championship team. Lancaster became a teacher and coach at Highland High School, and later was a teacher and coach at Pecatonica schools in Blanchardville. In 2010, Lancaster became Principal at Pecatonica High School. In 2015, Lancaster became Principal at Darlington High School and served as Athletic Director and as an assistant basketball coach. Lancaster and his wife, Denise, had 3 sons. A visitation for Aaron Lancaster will be Friday from 4pm until 8pm at First Baptist Church in Darlington. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11am at First Baptist Church in Darlington.
