Officials with the Platteville Main Street Program have announced that they will not be holding a Sweet Treats event this year. The Main Street promotions committee has decided it is too risky during the COVID-19 pandemic to bring hundreds of parents and children downtown. In past years, Sweet Treats in Platteville would draw several hundred people from around the area to trick-or-treat at downtown shops while part of Main Street was blocked off. In a statement from the Platteville Main Street Program, Director Jack Luedtke said that this was a very difficult decision, but the committee couldn’t find a safe way to hold the event. He added the Main Street Program plans to bring Sweet Treats back next year.
