Wisconsin health officials have confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Iowa County. According to a report from the county health department, a 26-year-old female -who recently traveled to Dane County- has tested positive for coronavirus. Officials say the woman has been home and under self-quarantine since returning to Iowa County. A release from Iowa County said the woman has had no known contact with a COVID-19 case. Health officials are continuing to monitor her symptoms and investigating other potential cases. Although this is the first diagnosed case of COVID-19 in Iowa County, it is very likely that there are other people in the community with the illness who have not been diagnosed, and may not be tested.
“The vast majority of people who have COVID-19 will get better on their own at home,” said Iowa County Health Officer Debbie Siegenthaler. “Most people will not receive a test, so it is vital that each of us practice common sense measures to avoid getting sick or spreading the virus.”
