UW-P HOPES TO BE READY BY AUGUST 15TH

UW-Platteville Chancellor

Dennis Shields says the

university plans to have the

three residence halls and

the engineering building

on campus, ready for the

start of school in less than

two months. That’s after a

tornado hit the Platteville

campus last Monday night,

causing significant damage

Rob Cramer is the Vice-

Chancellor for Administrative

Services. He describes the

repairs that are currently

underway on campus.

University officials say

the artificial surface at

Ralph E. Davis Pioneer

Stadium will have to be

replaced, along with seating

areas and three light poles.

But coaches are confident

the stadium can be fixed

by September 15th. The

Pioneer football team’s

home opener is scheduled

for September 13th.

Shields say insurance

will cover most of the

damage, but will not

pay for dozens of trees

that were knocked down

in Memorial Park on

campus.
