UNEMPLOYMENT RATES IN SW WI DOWN SLIGHTLY IN OCTOBER

Unemployment levels in southwest

Wisconsin dropped in October,

although the decline wasn’t major.

In Grant County, the jobless rate

fell from 4.7% in September to 4.5%

in October.

In October of last year, the unemployment

rate in Grant County was also 4.5%.

Other counties in the region had

similar drops in the jobless rate.

The lowest rate in the area for October

was Iowa County at 4.1%, the highest

was in Crawford County at 5.4%.

The five-county area includes

Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Crawford

and Richland Counties.

The statewide unemployment

rate in October was 5.7%, down

from 5.9% in September.

For the nation, the unemployment

rate was 7%.
