Truck, Utility Vehicle Crash Leaves 4 dead, 2 Hurt in Dubuque County
Four teens are dead and two adults injured after a crash outside of Epworth on Saturday afternoon. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Joe Connolly of rural Holy Cross failed to stop for a stop sign while driving a pick-up truck near East Pleasant Grove Road. Officials say his truck then went through an intersection and crashed into a Gator Utility Vehicle. Four teens, all age 14, were on board the utility vehicle. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says Bryce Wilwert and Mitchell Kluesner of Epworth, Nicholas Kramer of Dyersville and Sean Keneally of Peosta, were killed in the crash. Connolly is uninjured, but his two passengers, 25-year-old Joe Lucas of Epworth and 21-year-old Elissa Ericson of Cedar Rapids were treated for injuries. Lucas is in stable condition at University of Iowa Hospital. The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office is working with the Dubuque County Attorney’s Office on possible criminal charges.
