The issue of a combined dispatch

center for Grant County and the City

of Platteville, will now go back to the

County Law Enforcement Committee

to talk about.

That’s after the Platteville Common

Council discussed the proposal in a

recent work session. The council has

told Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman,

it’s interested in pursuing a study to

look at the dispatch needs of the city

and the county, and what cost savings

would be generated from a combined

dispatch center. Estimated cost of the

study would be between $15,000 and

Sheriff Dreckman has agreed to bring the

issue back to the Law Enforcement

Committee, even though he’s against

a combined dispatch center. During

the recent common council work

session, Platteville council member

Mike Denn stated he wasn’t in favor

of a study. Denn feels the city spends

too much money on studies, and has

no results to show from them.

By the way, the Grant County Law

Enforcement Committee’s next meeting is

scheduled for September 17th.
