The City of Platteville has been recognized
with a Stewardship Award at the Governor’s
Conference on Tourism, held this week in
Madison.
City Communications Specialist Angie Donovan
says the award is presented to a business or
community in Wisconsin, that uses or
promotes, sustainable practices.
In other words, the city has taken steps to
help the environment.
Donovan explains.
Donovan says Platteville Dairy Days saw a
30% reduction in the garbage collected after
the festival, because of the recycling bins.
The city was nominated for the
Stewardship Award by the Platteville
Chamber of Commerce.
While other organizations, communities,
and individuals from the region were
nominated for awards, there were no other
recipients outside of the city of Platteville.
