NO SPEED LIMIT CHANGE ON 12TH STREET IN FENNIMORE

The Fennimore Common Council had

recently decided to change the speed

limit on 12th Street, west of Lincoln Avenue.

The Council had approved a change of

the speed limit from the current

25-miles an hour to 20-miles an hour.

But City Clerk Margaret Sprague says

the city has learned it must first do an

engineering and traffic speed study on

12th Street before it can change the

speed limit. The city will also get input

from the Fennimore Police Department

on the issue. Sprague says the city will

also look at getting two portable speed

signs to put along 12th Street, and use the

data from those signs into the decision

on whether or not to change the speed

limit. According to Sprague, any decision

to change the speed limit more than likely

won’t happen until next Spring.
