Moving Pville Outdoors Gets Grant

The state DNR was very impressed with a grant application for funds to improve Platteville’s Rountree Branch Trail.

It was announced this week that the group behind the project, Moving Platteville Outdoors, will get over $630,000 from the state.

The DNR also told the city that the state has even asked the federal government for an additional $45,000  dollars to help fund the trail work.

The money will be used to pave and light the three mile trail from the Chestnut Street Bridge to another trail located behind Menards, in Platteville.

Work on the $1.2 million dollar project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2015.
