Milwaukee wins 3 – 1 over Chicago, K-Rod closes in on record
The Milwaukee Brewers have won 4 of their last 5 games, after beating the Chicago Cubs 3-to-1 last night at Wrigley Field.
Khris Davis doubled home the winning run in the seventh inning with a line drive to the left field corner.
Yovani Gallardo struck out 6 batters in 7 innings on just six. Gallardo gave up just 1-run on 6 hits with no walks.
Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth to get his
National League-leading 36th save, and the 340th of his career.
K-Rod is now 1-save away from tying Brewers’ Hall-of-Famer Rollie Fingers for 11th on the Majors’ all-time list.
The Brewers maintain the lead in a very close N-L Central Division, while the Pittsburgh Pirates moved into second place with last night’s win over the Detroit Tigers. They now sit just 2-and-a-half games back from the division lead.
The Pirates overtook the St. Louis Cardinals who fell to third in the division and 3-games off the lead with last night’s loss to the Miami Marlins.
