MAJOR DONATION TO LANCASTER LIBRARY PROJECT

The building and renovation project for

the Schreiner Memorial Library has

received another major donation.

Doctor Van Elston and his wife,

Mary McIntyre-Elston have donated

$100,000 to the project. The donation is

in honor of Dr. Elston’s mother, Anne C. Elston.

Both Dr. Elston and his wife are graduates

of Lancaster High School. Elston remembers

his days as a boy in Lancaster and playing in

Ryland Park, and going to the library when

it was the Ryland House. He says the library

was very important to his mother, and that

she worked behind the scenes to create the

library the city has today.

Dr. Elston says he and his wife still regard

Lancaster as their home. They currently

live in La Crosse.
