LOTS OF RAIN…BUT NO RECORD

Despite heavy rains that set

records for various communities

for single-day rain events, June

was not a record-setter overall

when it comes to precipitation.

In fact, it doesn’t even rank in the

Top-10.

But it has contributed to a

precipitation total that has already

equaled last year.

Dan Jones is with the National

Weather Service in La Crosse.

All of last year, Lancaster had

just under 27″ of precipitation

for the year. For individual communities,

Lancaster received just under 8″

of rain last month.

Other rainfall totals last month

include just over 12″ recorded at

the Boscobel Airport, nearly 14″

at Prairie Du Chien, 13″ at Steuben,

and 14″ at Dorchester in Allamakee

County in northeast Iowa.

To show you how the heavy rains

were localized last month, Dubuque

recorded just over 3.5″ of rain last

month.
