97-7 Country WGLR

The Lancaster Common Council has passed

an ordinance that puts loitering restrictions

on registered sex offenders within the city

limits. On a 6-to-2 vote, the council passed

the loitering ordinance over the much stricter,

residency restrictions ordinance that was

also being considered.

Voting for the ordinance are council members

Bob Schmidt, Chad Olmstead, Leroy Ihm,

Dave Varnam, Dennis Morgan and Kate Reuter.

Shayne LaBudda and Pete Hoffman vote

against it. Lancaster is the second community

in Grant County to adopt an ordinance that

specifically deals with registered sex offenders.

Last year, the Village of Cassville adopted

much stricter residency requirements for

them.
