A man from Madison who went on a
four-county crime rampage last week,
has been indicted on Federal gun charges.
A Grand Jury has indicted 36-year-old
James Kruger on charges of being a
felon in possesion of firearms.
The indictment alleges that on
September 10th, Kruger had possession
of a 22-caliber double-barreled shot gun,
a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun,
and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun.
Kruger was arrested that same day in
Iowa County, after leading authorities
on a four-county chase. If convicted,
he could get 10-years in federal prison.
The charges against him are the result
of an investigation by several local
law enforcement agencies, and the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms,
and Explosives. The Grant County
District Attorney will filing additional
charges against Kruger in the near future.
Helping with the investigation were
the Iowa and Dane County Sheriff’s
Departments, and the Cassville,
Dodgeville, Fennimore and Platteville
