This year’s recipients of the Herb Kohl

Foundation scholarships and fellowships

have been announced. The scholarships

are awarded to students who’ve

demonstrated excellence in the academic

arena, and have high motivation to achieve.

They’ve also displayed a broad range of

activity and leadership outside the classroom.

Students awarded excellence scholarships in the

CESA-3 jurisdiction include Rachel Demaree

from Platteville High School, Julia Meyer

from Pecatonica High School, Jared Yanna

from Fennimore High School, Issac Schuetz,

a home schooled student from Hazel Green,

Darby Fitzsimons from Darlington High

School, and Grace Friederick from Potosi

High School.


Recipients of the Herb Kohl Initiative

scholarships in the CESA-3 area include

Anthony Bart of Riverdale High School,

Josh Beck of Platteville High School,

Jena Foulker of Darlington High School,

Lexi Klatt of Ithaca High School, and

Kyle Van Bogaert of Belmont High School.

Initiative scholars are chosen by their

schools. They’ve demonstrated exceptional

initiative in the classroom, and have

shown strong promise for succeeding in

college and beyond.


Lastly, there are two teachers being recognized

with Herb Kohl Educational Foundation

Fellowships in the CESA-3 region.

They include Kathy Jones, who teaches

First Grade at the Pecatonica Elementary

School at Hollandale, and Business Education

Instructor Karen Sjoberg from Wauzeka-Steuben

High School.


Students and teachers from the CESA-3

area will be recognized at a reception and

luncheon on Saturday, April 5th at Janesville

Parker High School.
