A man from Dickeyville is scheduled for

a preliminary hearing next Thursday (3/27)

on charges of vehicle theft, bribery of a

public official and resisting or obstructing

an officer. Twenty-five-year-old (25)

Timmy L. Johnson will appear before

Judge Craig Day in Grant County Court.

Grant County authorities have charged

Johnson after an investigation into a

vehicle theft Thursday morning in the

Village of Dickeyville. The investigation

by deputies developed a suspect and

later in the day, Johnson was detained

in the City of Platteville. The vehicle was

found on the UW-Platteville campus,

and Johnson was arrested on a charge

of vehicle theft. That was based on

evidence found at the scene of the

stolen vehicle. Authorities say while

he was being taken to the county jail,

he tried to bribe the deputy into

letting him go, offering the officer

a large amount of money.

Johnson is being held on $10,000

cash bond. He made his initial

appearance on Friday (3/21).

Dickeyville Police, Platteville Police

and the Wisconsin State Patrol helped

with the arrest.
