A proposed recreational trail in the
City of Lancaster has received a
donation of two parcels of land.
The Lancaster Common Council has
accepted the donation from Joel and
Tina Ames. The parcels are located
between Elm and Linden Street.
The city has agreed to pay the
pro-rated portion of property taxes
on the parcels.
City Administrator Steve Winger
says the city is hoping to have other
land donations in the future. Winger
says he’s looking at the Safe Routes
to School Program to help pay for
developing the trail, along with a
grant from the Department of
Natural Resources. A recreational
trail would be used primarily for
walking, jogging, and biking.
