The unemployment rate went up
last month in four of the five counties
in southwest Wisconsin. Grant County
was the exception in November, where
the jobless rate stayed the same as
Iowa County saw the biggest increase,
from 4.1% in October to 4.6% in November.
Other unemployment rates last month
in southwest Wisconsin show
slight increases. Lafayette County,
4.5% which is up from 4.4%, Crawford
County at 5.8% for November, up from
5.4% in October, and Richland County
at 4.9%, which is an increase from
4.5% in October.
It should be noted, jobless rates were
down in all five counties when compared
to November of last year.
The state unemployment rate for
November was 5.8%, up slightly
from 5.7% in October. The national
jobless rate last month was 6.6%.
