Grant County’s health numbers

have improved from the last time

a survey was conducted of the

counties in Wisconsin. The county

improved its’ ranking from 11th

to 17th in health outcomes.

But the county continues to

struggle with the number of

health care providers available

to its’ residents. Grant County

Health Department Director,

Jeff Kindrai.

Kindrai says a major issue

is recruiting health care providers

to rural areas. A problem is

the school’s that train health care

providers are often in urban

areas, and the students want

to stay in areas where they

go to school or they live.

Kindrai says the region has

been very lucky to have

Southwest Tech, a school

that provides a lot of nurses

to area…but the two major

medical colleges in the state

are in Madison and Milwaukee.
