GRANT COUNTY CONCERNED ABOUT SQUARE

Up until now, few people have

said anything about changing the

traffic pattern on the courthouse

square in downtown Lancaster.

Grant County Board Chairman

Larry Wolf attended last Thursday’s

meeting about the proposed,

Highway-61 rebuild project set

for 2017. During the meeting, he

let the project coordinator know the

county’s position about the

current one-way traffic pattern.

(or)

The building…Wolf refers to…

is the County Administration

Building in downtown Lancaster.

The third floor of the building

is empty, with the county mulling

over whether or not to move the

Department of Social Services and

the Aging and Disability Resource

Center into the third floor of that

building.

By the way, one of the proposed

traffic patterns for the rebuild

of the courthouse square, calls

for one-way traffic on the north

and west side of the square, as

it goes past the County Administration

Building. It also calls for changing

the traffic pattern to two-way on

the east and south side of the square.

The hope is trucks would use that

route. That proposal also calls for

traffic control…stop signs…at most

intersections on the square.
