GRANT CO. BOARD HIRES TEMPORARY LEGAL HELP

The Grant County Board of Supervisors

attempted to replace the late Todd Infield

yesterday. The local attorney who was

serving as the county’s Corporation Counsel

died unexpectedly on March 3rd.

On a temporary basis, the county board

has approved hiring three local law firms

to fill the void.

The firm of Kinney, Urban and Kussmaul

has been hired to handle child support

cases, while McNamara, Reinicke, Vogelsburg

and Helmke will be legal counsel on mental

health, guardianships, and protective

placement cases. Lastly, the law firm of

Phillips/Borowski will give legal advice

to the county on all other county government

issues and actions. The firms will be paid a

range of $140-to-$180 an hour for their

services.

By the way, the City of Lancaster went

without legal counsel at its’ Common

Council meeting on Monday night.

The city will appoint a new city attorney

at its’ reorganizational meeting, after

the April 1st election. Infield was the

city attorney since April 2005.
