The former owner of the Platteville

Journal has passed away.

Dick Brockman died yesterday

(Monday) at his home. He was 65.

For 31-years he was the owner

of the Platteville Journal, buying

the paper from his father in 1971.

He then sold it to the current

owners, Morris Newpapers in 2003.

After selling the Journal, he owned

and operated Mastercraft Press in

Platteville, and he owned a local

newspaper in Central City, Iowa,

the Linn Newsletter.

Born in Dubuque, Brockman was

a graduate of Platteville High School

and a graduate UW-Platteville.


Funeral services will be Friday

morning at the First English

Lutheran Church in Platteville.

The Melby Funeral Home and

Crematory of Platteville is

handling arrangements.

Richard Brockman Memorial Fund.
