EPWORTH MAN KILLED IN VEHICLE VS. PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT

A man from Epworth is dead after being hit

by a vehicle early Sunday on Highway-20

in Farley, Iowa.

Dubuque County authorities say 21-year-old

Dawson Besler was killed when he was hit

by a Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by

24-year-old Alex Hannan of Dubuque.

The preliminary investigation shows Hannan

was driving east on the on-ramp for Highway-20

at Farley. As we was merging onto the

highway he hit the pedestrian, who was

pronounced dead at the scene. Hannan wasn’t

hurt. He’s been charged with drunk driving.

The east lane of Highway-20 at Farley

was closed for over three-hours Sunday

morning because of the accident.

Helping at the scene were police from

Dyersville, firefighters from Farley,

and the Dubuque County Medical

Examiner’s Office. The crash and the

death are under investigation.
