Public Safety officials for Dubuque County

and the City of Dubuque have announced

that Smart-9-1-1 (Smart911) is now available

for all residents of Dubuque County.

That makes it the first county in Iowa to

offer Smart911 service. It’s being funded

with forfeiture funds from the Dubuque

County Drug Task Force. Yearly costs

of the service are just under $15,000.

Those costs will be split between the

Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department

and the City of Dubuque Police Department.

To subscribe to Smart 9-1-1, a safety

profile must be created on-line at

www.smart911.com. Residents of

Dubuque County in both cities and

in rural areas, are encouraged to

create their own safety profile with

Smart911. That’s so their information

will be immediately available to

9-1-1 dispatchers.

Additional information is available

on-line at www.cityofdubuque.org/911,

or by calling (563) 589-7856.
