Thursday, February 27th at 6pm, the Dubuque Museum of Art, in partnership with River Lights Bookstore and their Page & Palette book club, is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a book club discussion on art and literature. Participants will be asked to read Timothy Egan’s Short Nights of the Shadowcatcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis.
The Museum will host a book discussion and then an exhibition tour of Edward Curtis’ work entitled, “Decorative” which showcases nearly 40 of Curtis’ iconic images.
Mark Wahlert, will lead a tour of the exhibition and representatives from River Lights Bookstore will lead the book discussion. There is no fee to participate in the book club, and book club participants will be invited to tour the Curtis exhibition FREE.

Fr. Richard Ament will lead an Ash Wednesday Retreat Day entitled "Towards a Healthy Christian Spirituality: Seven Sure Steps" from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5 at Shalom Spirituality Center, 1001 Davis Street, Dubuque, IA.

Participants are invited to begin Lent with a preached retreat, a time for reflection, quiet and participation in the Eucharistic liturgy. Fr. Ament will spell out how to live a Christian spiritual life using the word "healthy," which will help participants on their spiritual journey throughout Lent and beyond. Attendees should bring along a Bible or a copy of the New Testament.

Fr. Tom Hartl OFM will lead a Franciscan Pilgrimage to Italy beginning September 28 and running through October 9, 2014.

The group will fly from Chicago to New York City and arrive at Flumicino Airport in Rome. From there they will leave for Assisi to visit Francis of Assisi and Clare of Assisi’s places of San Damiano, Basilica of St. Francis, the Portizuncola, the caves where Francis prayed in, La Verna, Basilica of St. Clare, Greccio and other places where Francis and Clare lived. As part of this religious expedition, the group will celebrate Mass daily at one of the sites. On day seven, the group will return to Rome to visit the Vatican, having a group private audience with the pope and tour Rome. On October 9, the group will depart for the USA.

The city of East Dubuque is hosting this run/walk for the troops to help raise money for the University of Dubuque ROTC program, so the ROTC program can send 16 Army Cadets to White Sand New Mexico to participate in the 25th Annual Baatan Death March(which is a 26.2 mile march with 35lb ruck sack on your back)
When: 01-MARCH-2014 (Saturday) registration begins at 8am with the race begining at 10am
Where: East Dubuque grade school on HWY 35
$15.00 fee per runner/walker
$10.00 Tshirts on sale
Bake sale and refreshments will also be available.
