The annual “Click-It or Ticket”

seat belt enforcement campaign is set to begin

in Grant County on Monday. (May 19th)

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department and

other law enforcement agencies are participating

in the effort through June 1st.

Sheriff Nate Dreckman says the goal of the

campaign is not simply to write more tickets,

but to combine enforcement and education

to make sure people wear a seat belt every time

they drive or ride in a car.

According to the Wisconsin D-O-T,

around one out of five motorists do not

wear a seat belt in their car.

In addition, more than half of the drivers

killed in traffic crashes in Wisconsin in 2013

were not wearing seat belts.

In Grant County, seat belt usage

stands at around 79 percent.
