It was a gift to the City of Lancaster, from

the Volkmann’s. But now the city is looking

to sell the former “Interiors” building which

is on the courthouse square.

Earl and Kurt Volkmann donated the

building last September, when they

they closed “Interiors.” It’s recent use has

been for community events. The Grant

Regional Health Center Foundation used

it last Christmas for its’ “Festival of Trees,”

and it was also used for the “Bunny Hop”

fundraiser for the Schreiner Memorial

Library. But the common council has

forwarded the issue of what to do with

the “Interiors” building to the city’s

Planning Commission, with the goal of

selling it. The building has an appraised

value of $180,000.
