The City of Lancaster has its’ first-ever,

Golf Course Operations Manager who is a

full-time city employee. John Blaenke has

been hired to run the Lancaster Municipal Golf

Course. A native of Barrington, Illinois,

Blaenke most recently worked as the Director

of Operations at The Legend at Bergamont

Golf Course at Oregon, Wisconisn.

Blaenke says he’s looking forward to building

the community interest in the Lancaster

Municipal Golf Course.


Blaenke is a PGA golf pro and has 26-years of

experience in the golf industry. He’ll be paid

$42,000 a  year plus benefits as a full-time,

city employee.


The city received 12 applications from persons

wanting to be the Operations Manager of the

Lancaster Municipal Golf Course.

The city’s Golf Course Committee

reviewed the applications, and each member

picked their top three applicants, and gave them

to City Administrator Stephen Crane. Crane

then interviewed two of the applicants.


The City of Lancaster’s Golf Course Operations

Manager will report to the City Administrator

and to the Director of Public Works.

Blaenke’s first day at work was Monday.
