Boscobel Area Health Care has reached

an agreement to become an affiliate of the

Gundersen Health System based in La Crosse.

The affiliation will take effect October 1st,

and the hospital in Boscobel will now be

known as the Gundersen Boscobel Area

Hospital and Clinics.

Boscobel Area Health Care had entered into

a management agreement with Gundersen

last June. The formal affiliation is the next

step in the process of developing the new

healthcare delivery system for patients in

the Boscobel region.

According to Gundersen Health System

officials, during and after the transition

Boscobel Area Health Care will continue

to accept insurances they currently accept.

Patients will be able to continue their

relationships with their current health

care providers. The affiliation also will

not limit any existing care or access to



Gundersen Health System has hospitals

and clinics in rural communities throughout

western Wisconsin, northeast Iowa and

southeastern Minnesota. Boscobel Area

Health Care is the fourth regional healthcare

group to join the Gundersen Health System.

The others are the Gundersen St. Joseph’s

Hospital and Clinics in the Hillsboro area,

the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and

Clinics in the Whitehall area, and the

Palmer Luthern Health Center in West Union,



On the affiliation agreement, Boscobel

says hospital officials are pleased to take

the relationship between the two to the

next level. Hartberg says Gundersen

Health System understands rural

healthcare and the needs of rural hospitals

and clinics.
