Get that crock pot out of your pantry! It’s the perfect time of year to make delicious & easy meals for you and your family with that fabulous appliance known as a slow cooker.
Special thanks to Tana’s Odds & Ends and Produce on S. Monroe Street in Lancaster and Spring Valley Meats on Rattlesnake Road south of Beetown, for being the official sponsors of the “Crock of the Week!” They both have many of the ingredients called for in slow cooker recipes, and Tana prints every week’s recipe for you to easily grab in her store.
This week’s recipe is honestly one of my favorite crock pot recipes I have ever made. It is sensational. The flavors are wonderful. You won’t need to go out to get this dish anymore! It’s Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli! When we go out to a Chinese restaurant, this is almost always my dish of choice, but seriously, this is just as good if not better than that! All the ingredients are easy to find locally, just peruse the Asian food section in the grocery store. We served it over brown rice, but whatever rice you prefer will work just fine. I think I cooked it a bit too long because the meat fell apart a lot, but it didn’t matter because it still tasted delicious!!
And don’t forget to enter the giveaway! You can win some awesome prizes including a new slow cooker! Click on the banner above to enter.
In a small bowl, whisk together broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil & garlic. Pour over beef and let marinate for about 15 minutes at room temperature. Then place mixture in slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
IN a small bowl, stir together water and cornstarch until dissolved. Stir into the crock pot mixture and cook for about a half hour longer until the sauce thickens.
Before serving, stir in steamed broccoli. Serve over rice.
